Petrichor

by - July 28, 2017

Overcast skies,
drenched palms swaying in the ocean air,
droplets trickle off the rusty railings
onto the already drenched earth.
The bed is layered with fresh white linens,
untouched,
craving the heat of two bodies making magic.

Two arms wrap around her slender torso,
he smelled like the burnished sweetness of the tropical night,
almost like petrichor.
Soft pallet of lips against her neck,
traveling to the bones of her collar.
The air was cool against her skin
and gusts of wind danced around the room,
making it cozy and soothing.
The sky turned a grayish shade
and covered the crescent moon,
as they lay flesh to flesh.

She traces her fingers along his cheekbones,
whispering everything she loves about him.
He leans into her
and kisses her plum lips.
"you are magic" he stutters,
the air is cold,
as his thick dark hair falls into his eyes.
Moving his hands along her curves,
over her fragile bones,
she entwines her legs with his
as he pulls her into him.

"On these sheets, magic will happen" she says.

He moves and lies heavily on top of her,
sinking into the soft soles of foam.
Heated bodies melting into one
and every move made was infused with their
magic,
power,
wholeness.
